What’s the Deal with Affirmations…Really?!?
“Just think positively!!” OMG! How many times have you heard that piece of…advice?
“Are positive affirmations really just a bunch of BS or what?” Sure, if you expect them to work like magic or tomorrow. Let’s take a minute to see what the big deal is, shall we?
First, you need to understand the PURPOSE of using affirmations:
The purpose of specifically created affirmations gives you several North Stars that, if chosen well, ENLIVEN YOU to take action. In addition, they are phrases for self-care and calming, when needed.
Second, you need to understand the VALUE of creating and saying affirmations:
The value of creating as well as saying affirmations is to see how close or far away you are emotionally from its reality. What I mean is, if as you say them out loud and you feel excitement or enthusiasm then you are closer to them becoming a reality. Why? Because you will have more excitement or enthusiasm than fear to follow through on actions should obstacles arise.
But, if as you say them out loud and you feel resistance or anger then you are farther away to them becoming a reality. Why? Because you will have more fear or resistance than excitement to avoid following through on actions should obstacles arise.
Third, you need to understand what USING them means:
When using affirmations you are actually making room for something else by introducing another possibility beyond your current negative repeats. And, most importantly, you are not denying a negative reality or unwanted thoughts and feelings, you are really putting yourself at CHOICE! And, in choice is your freedom.
